Scripture Reading: “God planned for us to do good things and to live as he has always wanted us to live. This is why he sent Christ to make us what we are.” Ephesians 2:10.
Song of praise: Church Medley, Donnie McClurkin; I will trust in the Lord till I die.
If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin. – Charles Darwin.
When people are hungry or malnourished, their basic needs are not being met to live an abundant life, and their growth is stunted. This effects everyone in some form or another either in their own spirit, body and soul or from their associations. As we build on this mission and movement, I have identified three major areas of hunger in the World to focus on for innovative solutions. The three types of malnourished people are: 1) Natural disaster or the laws of nature; this area of hunger needs very little introduction. We all know about the natural disasters happening around the World almost daily from tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, flooding, freezing, and the like noting the issues with climate change. These are areas the news media reports on daily and their coverages raise the awareness of the need and make it ideal for massive support. 2) Malnutrition, the second area of hunger is from poverty – often created through institutions and government regulations. This is a more crucial area because of its side effects on people’s production, reproduction, and the very reason why we are here on earth. People are malnourished when their food consumption is not up to sufficient standards for a healthy body and growth. For children, these numbers are even more crucial since they affect the future well-being of Nations. This area is harder to identify and often goes unnoticed but affects a massive number of people in the United States and around The World – especially third world and under developed countries. 3) Spiritual malnutrition is the third area. I refer to it as spiritual hunger because many people are living in bondage. Bondage is slavery to an enemy and shown to manifest itself in both mental and physical faculties. When a person is spiritually depleted, the mind become weak and toxic causing both physical and mental illnesses. This is even more serious because it effects all those around the one with the malnourish soul. The soul is man’s mind, his will and his emotions. Scriptures identify it as an instrument of death and life.
In Romans 8:5-17, “…For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
“…Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God,” Matthew 4:4. I have come to understand through my experiences that life is a challenge, and can be even more challenging if one does not learn to or can not eliminate the day-to-day stresses of life. We all need a Savior in the physical realm. You and I are in the image of God, and spiritually that savior is Jesus. Man does need both the significance of purpose and Jesus for a balanced work-life. This area of spiritual malnutrition affects our emotional and intellectual maturity which in term reflect in our love for others. I am calling this your SQ or spiritual quantum. This is not often easily identified but does affect everyone whether knowingly or unknowingly. We see this too often when there is a mass shooting, violent crimes and deaths for unnatural causes – daily in the world around us and in our news reports: murders, rapists, petty and grand thief, greed, political corruption, and the like. For the purpose of building this work life movement, we will first deal totally with the spiritual responsibility of the people. As we become united in the image of God, we are more in tune to serve and change others in the World versus a focus on selfish desires.
